The Virtual Resistance (VR) is a communications hub created for activist groups in the fight against the Trump Administration.
The mission of the VR is simple: to strengthen coordination among activist groups in the state of Maryland through shared events, actions, contacts, and communications.
(1) a shared, publically available online calendar, sortable by location and areas of focus, complete with an online form by which activist leaders can add events;
(2) a shared database of contact information for activist groups in Maryland.
The VR is intended to encourage communications among activist group leaders and coordinators. While the tools are publically available, the data in both of these tools are encrypted at rest and in transit, and are backed up daily. The CRD contains contact information for numerous activist groups, and users can easily reach out to members of various groups through their preferred communication method (email, social media, phone, etc.). In addition, users can sort both events and groups by areas of focus, such as environment or elections, and thereby concentrate on sharing events and information with the groups that would be most interested.
